Biography

Katie Gannon is a partner in the firm’s Tampa office. Ms. Gannon concentrates her practice on appellate work in state and federal courts. Ms. Gannon also provides extensive litigation support and handles all aspects of post-trial motions, collections, and appeal. She has a well-established track record of success handling insurance defense, medical malpractice, wrongful death, premises liability, motor vehicle collisions, and business/commercial law disputes. In addition to her appellate practice, she litigates unique corporate claims, real property disputes, declaratory actions, and complex bet-the-company litigation.

Ms. Gannon obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in journalism with a minor in business, graduating summa cum laude from the University of Florida. During her undergraduate career, Ms. Gannon worked for the Brechner Center for the Advancement of the First Amendment, while also completing internships for Scripps Howard News Service and CNN. Ms. Gannon went on to earn her Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida College of Law. During law school, Ms. Gannon was a member of the competition trial team and president of the student chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers. She studied European Union business law during a semester in Monpellier, France, and interned for the Honorable Mark A. Pizzo, Magistrate Judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division.

Ms. Gannon began her professional career in Pensacola, Fla., handling mass tort claims in multi-district litigation involving defective drugs and medical devices, and represented victims of mesothelioma and asbestos-related illnesses. She returned to Tampa to join a nationwide firm litigating claims against nursing homes and assisted living facilities. She also participated in state and federal trials, including bankruptcy proceedings supplementary against national nursing home chains.

Katie Gannon is also an elected official, currently serving her second term as councilwoman on the city council for the City of Oldsmar, Fla., located in north Pinellas County Florida. Ms. Gannon is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
