The Spring Forum may be the best seminar for adjusters and employers on an annual basis. It is a one day program which this year is scheduled on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Caribe Royale Hotel, 8101 World Center Drive, Orlando.
The program starts at 8:30 am. Steve Rissman and Jim McConnaughhay discuss attorneys’ fee issues predicated on Castellanos, Miles and what happened in the 2017 legislature. Attorneys’ fees are the single biggest issue and the single most litigated issue in the State of Florida right now. McConnaughhay and Rissman can give substantial insight into what is happening and what will happen. The firm also is in charge of a program on medical care. That panel is composed of Nicole Ruocco, Dan Jaffe and David Beach. You know from that group that it will be substantive and funny. The afternoon has another panel from the Rissman firm. John Daly and Sean Crocker will be talking about employment law issues to employers who attend the Spring Forum. Employers should come away with great understanding and awareness of their responsibilities. The program also features a panel of judges. Most employers and adjusters do not attend very many hearings any more and these judges are there to share their insight and talk about substantive areas of law and ethics – just not open cases.

Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference
This year, the Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference is scheduled from Sunday, August 6, 2017 through Wednesday, August 9, 2017. It is the largest gathering of workers’ compensation professionals in the country. About 8,000 people attend this conference devoted to all aspects of Workers’ Compensation. The conference attracts adjusters, nurse case managers, attorneys, PEO personnel, temporary staffing personnel, judges, regulators, risk managers, safety personnel, medical personnel of all types and varieties, insurance agents, brokers, legislators, underwriters, mediators, TPAs, insurance companies, ancillary service providers and vendors of all types and varieties. There are over 350 exhibit booths and dozens more sponsorships. The Rissman firm plays a significant role at the convention. Steve Rissman is the perpetual program chair for the convention and puts the substantive program together with over 500 speakers and 250 learning sessions. We have several lawyers who participate in the program. David Beach is one of the stalwarts on the Monday afternoon case law update. Ray Lopez is asked to speak year after year on the Breakout for Adjusters. Bob Barrett enters his second year in a very meaningful panel dealing with the PEO industry. The entire workers’ compensation section of the firm is extremely active in helping with many of the sessions and providing networking with many clients.
There is a service project on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Give Kids the World. This is important work and the law firm participates thoroughly. In addition to the service project, there is a Give Kids the World Gala that Saturday night.
