A Defense Verdict in 30 Minutes

Wrongful death claims can cause physicians a great deal of stress and anxiety. Fortunately for our clients, Rissman knows medical malpractice law like no other firm.

In a recent case involving a medical malpractice wrongful death claim, the plaintiff claimed our client failed to diagnose bacteremia, which the plaintiff claimed progressed to bacterial endocarditis, resulting in intracranial hemorrhage and the patient’s subsequent death.

Rissman attorneys Dick Womble and Christine Zharova successfully refuted the plaintiff’s allegation that generalized symptoms of a low-grade fever, chills, and a headache should have alerted our client that his patient had an ongoing infectious process. Crucially, bacterial endocarditis was never confirmed as a diagnosis—and our attorneys made this a cornerstone of their defense.

The jury returned a defense verdict after a mere 30 minutes of deliberation. Once again, Rissman gets results.
