Biography
Alyssa Mendoza is a seasoned trial attorney whose practice is grounded in courtroom advocacy and building strong relationships. Before joining Rissman, Alyssa represented plaintiffs in high-exposure tort litigation, including catastrophic injury and automobile negligence cases. Prior to entering civil practice, Alyssa served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Queens County District Attorney’s Office, where she handled and tried violent felony and homicide cases from investigation to verdict. During her time at QDA, Alyssa led complex and significant prosecutions and investigations, including cold-case homicides involving forensic genealogy. Her prosecutorial career required not only command of evidence and trial procedure, but the ability to work closely with victims and their families during the most difficult moments of their lives. She developed a reputation for steady courtroom presence, disciplined cross-examinations, and the overall ability to translate complex facts into compelling, credible narratives for judges and juries alike. In civil practice, Alyssa brings that same trial-centered discipline to liability defense. Licensed in Florida, Georgia, and New York, Alyssa pairs rigorous trial preparation with a relational approach to advocacy, earning the trust of clients, maintaining genuine professionalism with opposing counsel, and appearing before the court with credibility and command.
How I Resolve
Being prepared is not simply Alyssa’s strategy, it is her standard. She knows better than anyone that treating every case as if it is going to trial lays the foundation for successful resolution, whether that be early on, at mediation, or proceeds to verdict. From the moment Alyssa takes a case, she resolves to attack it with strength, strategy, and readiness to stand before a jury at any given moment.
